Prince Cakrabuwana Museum
The Prince Cakrabuwana Museum is a special museum built by the Cirebon Regency Government in 2017. This museum was inaugurated on April 14 2017, to coincide with the 532nd anniversary of Cirebon Regency. This museum's collections come from private collectors and government agencies. The main aim of establishing this museum is to reintroduce and preserve Cirebon's unique cultural and artistic heritage. In the 15th century AD, the Cirebon region experienced an important period in its history with the arrival of Prince Wapanjangsang, son of the Pajajaran Kingdom, who later became known as Pangeran Cakrabuana. He is known as a wise figure who is able to unite various cultural elements into one harmonious whole. Prince Cakrabuana left historical and cultural traces that are very valuable for the next generation. Prince Cakrabuana's great name is immortalized in the name of this museum. The inauguration was held on April 2 2014 by the Regent of Cirebon at that time, Drs. H. Sunjaya Purwadi, S.MM., M.Sc., witnessed by the Deputy Regent of Cirebon, Mr. Tasya Soemadi, the Regional Secretary, Mr. Dudung Mulyana, and attended by a number of heads of departments and other invited guests. The inauguration activity began with remarks from the Head of the Culture, Tourism, Youth and Sports Service, Mr. H. Asdulah, who invited all levels of society to raise awareness of the importance of studying history as a form of wisdom from the past that can be an inspiration for the present and the future. He also expressed his thanks to all parties who had donated historical objects to enrich the museum's collection. In his speech, the Regent of Cirebon expressed his hope that the younger generation, especially students, could preserve and revive local cultural values. He also reminded that life cannot be judged from just one or two points of view. If we judge it from the side of right or wrong, we use the logical dimension. If it is good or bad, then that is the realm of ethics. However, to make life more meaningful, elements of beauty or aesthetics are also needed. With these three elements — logic, ethics and aesthetics — life will become more harmonious and meaningful. It is hoped that this museum can become a means of building the honor and dignity of the people of Cirebon. The Prince Cakrabuwana Museum is under the management of the Cirebon Regency Culture, Tourism, Youth and Sports Service. This museum holds various collections related to the history and culture of Cirebon, such as shadow puppets, wayang golek, batik cloth, replicas of traditional boats, jugs, masks, traditional clothing, as well as ancient manuscripts that have high historical value.
