Art of Buroq Buto Cilik Entertainment
Burok art was first introduced in 1934. This art, which originates from Kalimaro Village, is inspired by the story of the Isra Miraj journey of the Prophet Muhammad SAW. In this story, the Prophet SAW traveled from the Grand Mosque in Mecca to the Aqsa Mosque in Palestine, and continued to Sidratul Muntaha which is in the seventh layer of heaven. On his journey, the Prophet SAW rode Buraq, a creature of Allah that resembles a winged horse. From this story, a number of artists replicated the Buraq shape into art. The buraq is made in the form of a bedawang, which is a kind of cage decorated with a head shape that can be shaken. As time goes by, burok art is often presented at certain events such as Koran sermons, circumcisions, or carnival parades. The performance of burok art is used as a means of entertainment accompanied by music such as gamelan. This art has a positive meaning, among other things, as a form of gratitude for the good fortune given to humans. Apart from that, burok art is also considered as a means to remember the power of Allah SWT.
